Granite Belt Art & Craft Trail

Held over two big weekends October 19th – 20th and 26th – 27th. Local wineries and attractions will be hosting local artists who will be showcasing their works of art. Want to learn more about an art? Then why not enrol in class or two.

Savour the Granite Belt’s thriving art and craft community at GBART -Granite Belt Art and Craft Trail – Open Studios Event. Held over two huge weekends, follow the trail map to discover a variety of local artists, as they exhibit at studios and galleries as well as taking up residence in community spaces. Enrol in a class, watch a demonstration or simply enjoy looking at their artistic process.

Being a self-drive event, it allows you to stop for a while and enjoy everything arty. You can see things like printmaking, photography, botanical art, sculpture bushwalk, stoneware pottery, stained glass and even a free guided walking tour of street art. Even the seniors at Villa Carramar will be showcasing their wares. From knitting, crocheting to jewellery making something for everyone.

The trail begins at the top of the Granite Belt at Dalveen (about 2.5 hours from Brisbane) and winds its way south to the New South Wales border.

At Ridgemill estate will be hosting local artist Anita Stevens who will be showcasing her wares such as scratch boarding and acrylics. Never heard of Scratch boarding then drop by and see how it is done. She will be here from 10am to 4 pm on both Saturdays and 10am to 3pm on Sundays.

As a hobby artist being mostly self-taught, Anita expresses her creative world using several mediums. She loves the use of soft delicate pastels, the versatile nature of acrylics and the challenge of painting in oil.

To enhance her LOVE for ART as a hobby and to stay motivated, Anita joined an artist group where her aim to feel relaxed, inspired and creative is nurtured weekly within a setting of likeminded people.

If, like Anita, you feel INSPIRED by being in the company of like-minded people plan some time with her and quench your longing!

Find out what scratch boarding is all about or sit and talk technique as she adds touches to one her current pieces. You could even reward yourself with a gift and take home one her works which will be available for sale.
